“Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
I love it when I find these standing-stones out in the wild – it’s a comforting feeling knowing that someone else has marveled at the sights before you and has in some small way endeavoured to leave their mark on the world… their footprints in the sands of time.
Beautiful Martina!
The splashing water and small creatures made by human….
Richard! I tried accessing your blog, but it doesn’t work for me anymore! Are you planning on continuing with it?
A pleasant image that emanates a feeling of peace and tranquillity.
Very beautiful, Martina!
superbe !
This is a lovely and refreshing shot, Martina. In these hot summer days, it is extra special. I’ve always had an inner debate whether it is better to leave some footprints behind or to try to leave things untouched. Perhaps there is a middle ground? 🙂
Love that they stand all the while surrounded by movement and decay…
C’est le traitement des couleurs qui touche. Magnifiquement calme et riant à la fois.
Great colouring, Martina. Did you provide any post-processing to this? Looks great.
Hi Emily, I did just a slight colour treatment in Lightroom, nothing too heavy handed. Regards, Martina
It’s a great image. I love the subtle blues and the delicate composition. Those standing stones create a very special atmosphere with the water running around them.
