The Tate Modern is one of my favourite museums in London – not only for the great exhibitions but also for its stunning architecture. The former Bankside Power Station was converted into a gallery by the Swiss architects Herzog & De Meuron. The gallery retains much of the original character of the building but also has a vibrancy and life of its own. No part of the museum exemplifies this more than the dramatic entrance hall which used to be the turbine hall of the factory.

This is outstanding candid photograph, Martina! The museum visitors add another dimension and accentuate the vastness of the scene.
very cool image. everyone is so detached from the others. each is like it’s own world.
wonderful capture of this magnificent hall, the huge space …
“Two Thumbs Up… Way Up” Martina say that five times fast (HA!)… SPOTLIGHT of a scene “The Cashmere Rainbow” aplenty to look at – Pure Chicness!
wonderful capture ! bravo!
Love your point of view here..how the people dot the scene and the frame.
Not easy to ask everyone not to move… Superb place. Superb composition.
What a wonderful natural “selective color” scene with the building itself being monochromatic — an amazingly deep depth of field as well. This one I could stare at for many long moments because there’s a story in each person or group — love it! Nicely captured and very creative.
Martina, once again a wonderful image, so many facets, so many stories! Love illusion the sloped surface gives from your point of view…at first I didn’t realize there was a slope!
This is a real wall hanger. very well done!
sitting, walking, talking
A beautiful photo of this crowded place and it shows us what people love to do!!
Well seen and captured Martina!!
Love the Tate!!
The gathering. Not only does the Tate display art, it must also display humans–and they are certainly fascinating. A nice study that is well done!
Wow! This composition really wowed me! I never thought we could create a wonderful image with a scenario like this.
This is one of the most amazing images of a large group of people that I’ve ever seen. At first, I thought this was manipulated with a desaturated background, but then I realised that you had just taken advantage of the natural tone contrasts available. As if that wasn’t enough, the groupings you’ve caught are just so spot on, too. I also love how the human figures look slightly unreal, as if they were miniature models. And all this from simply seeing the photo opportunity, and then following it though. Absolutely brilliant, then!
