This panorama of the Pilatus shows the worlds steepest railway in action! At times it reaches a 48 deg incline, and travels almost to the summit at about 2000m.
It’s a very relaxed way to reach the summit and it affords some incredible views – I highly recommend it to anyone who finds themselves in Switzerland.

Gorgeous scenery. I’d love to ride in that.
fantastic wideangle, really pleasant view for this splendid panorama
very nice view
Such a perfect subject for this panoramic view. I’ve ridden a number of cogwheel railways but would love to add this one to the list…if I should ever find myself in Switzerland. 🙂
wow, that’s very cool. Id love to ride on this train some day.
That little red train really puts things in perspective here.
Ah a blast from the past, I have been on that when I was a very very small boy 🙂
Gosh, that is a gorgeous photo – love the pop of red. That must be an incredible journey – so steep; I can’t imagine a train going at that incline!
Very nice photo!
Beautiful shot, Martina. Love the detail in the composition, and of course, the red train! A place to visit, for sure.
Ich war schon in vielen Teilen der Schweiz, aber der Pilatus fehlt noch, wunderschöne Bergsicht.
j’aime bien la touche rouge de ce train dans ce paysage.
Nice view and very good composition: the red small train against the high mountains in background! I’m looking forward to visit someday Switzerland..:P
